Our Curriculum
All of my courses are taught in small groups using my unique method developed from over 25 years of teaching. My method is based around the three established learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. I also include lots of fun so that my students enjoy their experience. Each course has its own full set of audio visual resources that are subsequently emailed to students to provide a permanent support package for every lesson. In this way, students can continue to develop the skills to put their knowledge into practice. We also interact with native speakers during our courses and Owen’s freshly baked cookies at coffee breaks are always a hit with our students.
THE INTENSIVE COURSE
Our most popular choice for small groups, families or friends who want to make a major move up the learning ladder.
Courses are 9:30 to 12:30 giving our students time to enjoy their afternoons off. We celebrate with a group lunch on the last day of the course after having spent the morning putting our learning into practice with real French people.
Components of this course include:
French alphabet and phonics for perfect pronunciation.
French numbers and their use.
Conversational and technical French for shopping, managing appointments and using money.
This is a really useful course and can be tailored for a complete beginners, or more advanced learners who maybe need to revisit some of the basics as a confidence booster. One thing is for certain, you will come away from this course invigorated, confident and ready to keep on improving your French.
We also offer tailored weeks based on your specific learning interests and requirements, if you have specific needs and goals.

IMMERSION DAYS
Immersion days are a five-hour focus on specific areas of interest. They are attended by students from all backgrounds. My students come away with an improved ability to communicate and converse in their chosen areas.
USING THE PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE IN FRENCH
This course is aimed at slightly more advanced learners who are hesitant about using the different tenses in French.
It’s really useful for coming to grips with all the ways the present tense/ past tenses in French translate into English, as well as learning the tricky ways the French use the present and the past. You will definitely come away from the course with a much clearer understanding of the different French tenses and will have learned some vital skills to help you become more independent in your learning. It will also help you identify the different tenses when someone is speaking to you which will make understanding much clearer and communication much easier.
This is a one day immersion course, with 5 hours of learning and a delicious Aubèrja Estelada locally sourced lunch provided.

CONVERSIONS WITHOUT THE GRAMMER
Are you desperate to communicate? Are you looking for a way to string together all that vocabulary you may have learned but are put off by the horrors of grammar?
Over two days you will be introduced to my unique phrase bank consisting of well over 600 phrases which will enable you to converse with native speakers. The phrase bank is designed to provide you with core language skills which you can then tailor to reflect your own needs and interests. By far my most popular course, I am currently working with my 14th group who have followed this course. They started at the beginning of lockdown with this course and the group is still going strong. The two day course is a perfect way to start!
This is a 2 day immersion course, with 5 hours of learning on each day.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS & REGION
The first invitation you get to your village repas may be the moment when you realise ‘you’ve arrived’ but it can also be a little bit scary.
In this course we focus on language you can use at social gatherings or chatting over the garden gate. The second part of the course focuses on exploring your new home, taking part in social activities and groups and visiting attractions. Students take home useful small talk phrases and build specific bios of themselves in French to enable them to tell their own story. We also provide you with the ability to find out what is on and what places are worth a visit.

PHONICS
BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL COURSE
Phonics is an absolute must for beginners or intermediate learners and gives you simple tools to ensure that your pronunciation is accurate. Avoid those awful situations when you say something to a French person which you know is correct but because of your pronunciation they give that blank stare! French and English are completely different when it comes to pronunciation so a day at this workshop will change your life when it comes to speaking French. Fun yet simple and extremely effective!

B1 LEVEL FOR ADVANCED LEARNERS
These courses are aimed at more advanced learners who want to perfect their skills.
They are particularly useful and very much aimed to help my clients be successful in obtaining level B1 which is needed to obtain French nationality.
USING THE TENSES
This workshop is aimed at learners who have learned the tenses in the past, present and future, but still sometimes get them confused or just want some more practice using them. You’ll be using all of the four language learning skills during this intense day, honing your ability in listening reading speaking and writing.
Perfect for current students following the B1 courses or new clients who are interested in perfecting their already very good French.

THE SUBJUNCTIVE
Do you want to speak French like the French do?
For many students the subjunctive is the bane of their lives – I know it was for me. This course will help you nail the subjunctive once and for all. On completion of this course, not only will you know when to use the subjective but also how to avoid it without compromising meaning.

SPEAKING & LISTENING
This course really is aimed at those clients who are interested in gaining a B1 qualification.
You will be able to experience the type of activities that the exam will expect from you. This day isn’t about judging you but it is about showing you how ready you are for the exam. All of the materials which I will be using are modified from the B1 DELF curriculum and exam materials and you will leave with a clear knowledge of what you have to do to reach that level. Again, perfect for existing B1 clients or those people who already have an excellent level in French but want to understand what skills the exam are looking for.
